Douglas and Barbara Fink split a C$16.3m pot with another lottery winner in Ontario Western Canada Lottery Corporation

Third time really was the charm for this Canadian couple, who won C$8.2m (£4.9m, $6.1m) in the lottery.

Barbara Fink and husband Douglas, from Edmonton, had won the lottery twice before, once in 1989 and again in 2010.

But their jackpot win in February's Western Canada Lottery was by far the largest, seeing them split the C$16.3m jackpot with another ticket holder in Ontario.

When asked what they will spend their winnings on, Barbara said: "Family comes first. We want to make sure that our daughters and our grandkids are looked after."

But the couple also plan to splurge some of the cash on themselves, saying they may continue travelling after a pre-planned holiday to Saint Lucia.

Douglas said they'll also start looking for a new home on their return.

"Barbara wants a new house, so she'll get one," he said.

In 1989, Douglas shared in a C$128,000 win with four of his friends, while in 2010, Barbara and Douglas won a C$100,000 prize together. Their most recent win saw them hold one of just two tickets with all six matching numbers.

Barbara recalled calling her husband, who was out of town, when she discovered they had won.

"He didn't answer, so I waited five minutes and tried again," she said in a press release by the provincial lottery company. "That time, he picked up. I said, 'I did it again!'"
