It was a comfortable straight victory for her. The final scoreline was 21-14, 21-16, which went in Marin's favour. She will be targeting another straight set win in order to clinch gold on Friday.

However, she will have to overcome PV Sindhu in order to win the final. The Indian defeated Nozomi Okuhara in the second semi-final, which was also a straight set victory, despite the first set being a close call. Sindhu eventually won 21-19.

Sindhu made sure she did not repeat any mistakes of her first set as she comfortably clinched the second set with a scoreline of 21-10 to seal the match. Following their confirmation of a berth in the final, a silver medal is the least they will walk away with after the final.
