While her co-stars and celebrity friends have been paying warm tributes to Carrie Fisher following her death, a photo of the star posing with a fan has gone viral, after he shared a funny story about the actress.

Corey Vidal, a Toronto-based vlogger attended the premiere of The Force Awakens in 2015, when he was fortunate enough to share a moment with the star on the red carpet.

When he asked if she would stop for a selfie with him, she agreed, but on one condition.

Writing on Facebook on Tuesday (27 December) evening he explained: "The last time I met Carrie Fisher was on the red carpet for The Force Awakens. I asked if she wanted to take a selfie, and she replied "Only if you promise to tell everyone we're dating".'

The viral selfie which has been viewed by thousands of people, shows the movie star appearing to pout for the camera as she posed happily with the handsome fan.

Reacting to news of her passing Vidal said: "I haven't felt this way about any other celebrity death. My insides feel like they're squeezing. I've cried twice today. This hurts.

"She is one with the Force. The Force is with her. She is one with the Force... Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher. You will forever be our Princess."

As tributes continue to pour in on social media, fans have made a makeshift Hollywood star for Fisher on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Adorned with candles and roses the message etched on the star reads: "Carrie Fisher May the Force Be With You Always."

Meanwhile, the star's books are reportedly flying off the shelves. Just one day after her death , her memoir "The Princess Diarist" was the top-selling book on Amazon.

Carrie Fisher, died on Tuesday (27 December) in Los Angeles, age 60 after suffering a heart attack during a transatlantic flight.
