Celtic have agreed an 18-month loan deal for Manchester City star Patrick Roberts. The 18-year-old will be in Glasgow over the weekend to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the deal.

Roberts is an England under-19 international who joined City from Fulham in the summer. Speaking about the loan move, Manuel Pellegrini revealed he is a fan of the player's talents and is keen to see him get more experience at first-team level.

"He is a very good player and I am sure that Patrick will be a very important player here in the future," the City boss said, according to the BBC.

"I thought it was important that he trained with our first team for the first half of the season. But to play more games for him at Celtic will be better than to stay here and just play some games. It will be a very important option for him."

The teenager has made three appearances as a substitute for City this season, having impressed during his first-team appearances at Fulham.

The move continues a trend of players swapping the Etihad Stadium for Celtic after John Guidetti and defender Jason Denayer joined the club on loan last season. The Scottish Premier League giants also signed Dedryck Boyata from City this summer.
