It's a crunch Champions League night for the Manchester clubs as they attempt to progress into the knock out round of the Uefa Champions League in their final group games.

Premier League leaders Manchester City have their fates out of their hands. With German giants Bayern Munich visiting the Etihad Stadium, they will have their work cut out. Bayern have already won Group A and could hold back a bit tonight, but City still need to defeat them and hope Napoli fails to win against Villarreal in the other fixture.

In the reverse fixture, earlier in the season, City were defeated 2-0 in Germany in a match which was overshadowed by Carlos Tevez's refusal to play for the club.

City will hope some amount of luck will go their way and that Villarreal does them a favour. It looks unlikely though.

City's neighbours Manchester United also find themselves with a scenario concluding in elimination, although they can avoid that with a win at Basel. Manchester United only needs to avoid defeat to progress, but they will be looking to top the group which requires a win and against Basel and a draw or a loss for Benfica against Otelul Galati in the other tie.

However, they are likely to face a motivated Basel side who know they'll qualify for the knockouts if they defeat Man United. They could even win the group if they win and Otelul Galati salvages a draw.

It all makes for an intriguing night of European action.
