A meat cleaver-wielding robber is being hunted by policeafter "terrifying" supermarket staff in Kent.

The suspect, pictured on CCTV, bought a lottery scratch card at the Co-op supermarket in Kestrel Road on 22 February then brandished a machete at the till and demanded money.

He gave a bag to an assistant and ordered them to fill it with cash. He fled the store with a large quantity of bank notes.

The suspect is described as a white male, unshaven and scruffy, and with black or brown short hair. He was wearing a black jumper and cream or white trainers.

Kent Police released CCTV images of a man they want to interview.

DS Lee Neiles said: "This was a terrifying robbery that was over in a matter of seconds, carried out by a suspect who is potentially very dangerous. We would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images in connection with this incident and would urge anyone who may recognise him to call us immediately."
