Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 7:45pm GMT. Live coverage will be available on Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 2 HD.

Overview

Basel will be confident after their 2-1 win over the Blues in the reverse fixture in Stamford Bridge. The Swiss club are currently third in the group with five points and need a win to make their chances brighter of qualification into the next stage. Basel are in good form in the league, capping off a successful weekend with a 4-1 victory over Thun, which kept them top of the table. They are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions and are a formidable side at home. However, it will be a major triumph for the Swiss club if they can complete an unlikely double over their more decorated rivals.

Chelsea shall come into the game looking for a point, which shall confirm their qualification to the knockout stages. Jose Mourinho's side have lost only once and are favourites to top the group this time around. They come into the game on the back of a 3-0 thrashing of London rivals West Ham United and will be confident of sealing qualification without leaving it for the next game.

Mourinho has never won a European title with Chelsea and will be looking to put that record behind him. The Portuguese manager is yet to find his feet in the league, with his team currently third in the table with 24 points, four points behind Arsenal who are top. Qualification to the knockout stages will allow him to rest some key players in the last game and give more time for rehabilitation.

What the Managers Say

Murat Yakin: "We are prepared for the match and are looking forward to it. We want to play in the Champions League after the winter break and we also want our first win [of the group] at home. For Chelsea a draw would be enough, but the big clubs usually want to finish first in the group to have a better position for the [Round of 16] draw."

Jose Mourinho: "This is a period I like, a period where the squad can play a role, not just the team. It's a period where I think only the brave can survive because it's so hard. We go into the Christmas period and the accumulation of matches is so high. We don't do it as a normal thing ... we do it as a special group with a special mentality, enjoying the situation and forgetting we don't have a Christmas like the Spanish, Italian and German players. But we have the pleasure of playing a period that's only for the brave."
