Chelsea duo Loic Remy and John Obi Mikel are set to miss the Champions League game against Maribor on Wednesday 5 November after being left out of the squad due to injuries, the club confirmed.

The French international striker suffered an injury on Tuesday 21 October during the home 6-0 victory against the Slovenians, forcing him to leave the pitch just seconds after scoring the opener in the 13th minute of the game.

Remy has since missed two Premier League games against Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers, while he was also out of action for the Capital One Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town.

Speaking about the striker before the QPR game, Jose Mourinho claimed he didn't expect him to return to action until after the international break in mid-November.

Meanwhile, Obi Mikel was played his part during last week's victory over Shrewsbury in the League Cup but was ruled out for the the London derby against QPR on Saturday 1 November due to a knee injury.

"Loic Remy remains out with Jose Mourinho reporting on Friday he anticipates the striker will be fit after the imminent international break," Chelsea stated on the club's official website.

"John Mikel Obi is also absent. He missed the QPR game with a small knee problem."

Furthermore, the Blues confirmed "Diego Costa has been included in the squad", having already made his return from injury in Saturday's victory over QPR.

But after Mourinho claimed the Spaniard still required special care following his latest injury, the Portuguese manager may opt to rest him, with Didier Drogba taking his place up-front.

The fact that the Blues visit Anfield on Saturday for the Premier League game against Liverpool may also influence Mourinho's decision.
