Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has begun the mid-season mind games after claiming he wants to draw Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Blues produced a fine display to dump out Sporting Lisbon despite having already assured themselves top spot and could face Juventus, FC Basel, Bayer Leverkusen, PSG or Shakhtar Donetsk in the round of 16.

And ahead of a potential repeat of last season's quarter-final, Mourinho has ignited the mind games with Laurent Blanc by claiming he would fancy a return to the French capital after Monday's draw.

"The draw is the draw," the Chelsea boss said. "We have five possible opponents. I am happy City and Arsenal went through. I am not happy they finished second as they blocked possibly opponents. We have five different opponents.

"I think Paris would be good. It would be easy to travel for us and to travel for the fans. we can't decide the draw. everyone is hard. You think Basel is easy? We lost twice twice last year, they beat Liverpool and two years ago they beat Manchester United. There are no easy teams at this moment.

Mourinho added: "None of the big teams are out of the competition now. The real champions league starts now."

Despite making six changes from the loss to Newcastle United and giving 18-year old Ruben Loftus-Cheek a senior debut, Mourinho gave top scorer Diego Costa 90 minutes as he continues on the rod towards full fitness.

"He wants to improve his condition," the Portuguese boss added. "The confidence is not high, the condition is not the best. But he wants to use the game to chase. There was lots up front, lots of movement. It was very important for him. I saw him better than against Sunderland, better than against Newcastle."
