Paris Saint Germain are ready to offer £40m for Chelsea star Juan Mata in the next transfer window according to French reports.

French Newspaper Le 10 Sport claims that PSG were already close to sign the Spanish attacking midfielder last summer and are now willing to come back with a better offer to secure the Spaniard's services.

Mata has struggled to get a place in the Chelsea starting line-up since Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge and he may also consider an exit in January if he does not get his regular starting berth back.

Mata has lost his place in the team to Brazilian Oscar, who Jose Mourinho favours, and PSG appear a good option to carry on his career. The French club have grown a lot in the last few seasons and are leading the French League, as well as progressing well in Europe.

Recent reports suggested that Mourinho will not oppose the sale of Mata, even though the Spanish star has been Chelsea's best player over the last two seasons - helping them to conquer both the Champions League and the Europe League.

Chelsea signed Mata two seasons ago from Valencia for slightly over £20m and according to current reports they could get almost double that amount from PSG.

Mata has started just five Premier League games this season without scoring any goals. Although he is currently in South Africa with the Spanish squad he knows that his chances to go to the World Cup will diminish without regular games for Chelsea.
