Chelsea have confirmed a number of items belonging to the club's academy players were stolen from the Blues' Cobham training base in Surrey earlier this month.

"A number of personal items were recently stolen from the academy dressing room area. The matter is currently being investigated by the police. CCTV footage is being handed to them and confirms the thefts were carried out by a lone intruder not connected with the training ground site. Other local premises near to the training ground were targeted that day and may be connected. Nobody at Chelsea FC is under suspicion," the Telegraph quoted a Chelsea spokesperson.

The report claims six wallets, nine mobile phones and several watches were among the items which were stolen.

According to the Daily Mail, a lone intruder entered the ground to commit the thefts, which were discovered when the players returned to the changing room after training. The crime is the latest incident at Chelsea's training ground to hit the headlines this year. A knife was found in the academy dressing room earlier and the club claimed it had been misplaced by a workman.

Academy star Jacob Mellis was shown the door after the youngster caused a full-scale evacuation at the training complex by letting off a smoke bomb. In addition to that, some of Chelsea's staff damaged the Champions League trophy, while posing for unauthorised pictures with the Cup.

No Chelsea Bid for Falcao

Sky Sports claims Atletico Madrid have not received any official contact from Chelsea for striker Radamel Falcao, despite reports this morning suggesting the Blues were in preliminary discussions with the La Liga club, ahead of a £45m offer in January. There were earlier reports of a potential January transfer immediately after the Spanish club beat the European champions 4-1, to win the UEFA Super Cup.

The Colombia international, who has netted eight times in five games so far this season, has emerged as one of the most sought after attacking talents in world football. Reports have repeatedly stated the Blues were lining up a move for the 26 year old but it is now understood that no offer has been made yet.
