Queens Park Rangers travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the west London derby in the Premier League in midweek. The two clubs ended 2012 in contrasting fashions, as the Blues won their match 2-1 against Everton at Goodison Park, while Harry Redknapp's side lost their game 3-0 to Liverpool at Loftus Road.

Overview

After their defeat to Corinthians in the FIFA Club World Cup final, Chelsea have been on a goal-scoring spree. The Blues have found the back of net 16 times in their last four games, which includes a 1-5 win over Leeds United at Elland Road and an 8-0 hammering against Aston Villa at home. With their recent form, the European champions have climbed to third spot in the table with 38 points after 19 matches, trailing league leaders Manchester United by 11 points, with a game in hand.

Rafael Benitez's side are currently unbeaten in their past four league games, with their last defeat being against West Ham United at Upton Park at the beginning of December. Chelsea's interim manager would be looking to start the New Year with a win in order to keep his side's momentum, before they travel to St Mary's Stadium to face Southampton for an FA Cup tie.

QPR did not enjoy a great start to this season and are currently rock bottom of the table with 10 points from 20 games. Redknapp took over the managerial post from Mark Hughes last month but has failed to bring the club out of the relegation zone.

The Hoops have managed to win only one game this season; the 2-1 victory against derby rivals Fulham at Loftus Road. QPR are also yet to register their first victory away from home and Redknapp would be desperate for a win against Chelsea in midweek, to keep their hopes of continuing in Premier League next season.

Team News

Chelsea will be without their skipper John Terry and midfielder Oriol Romeu as both of them are out of action with their injuries. Petr Cech is also likely to miss the game, after the Czech Republic stopper was forced off during the break against Everton. Ross Turnbull is expected to start at the goal for the Blues against QPR.

Probable Line-Up: Turnbull; Ivanovic, Cahill, David Luiz, Cole; Ramires, Mikel; Moses, Oscar, Hazard; Torres

Redkanpp has few injury worries for the game as QPR are still without strikers Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson, along with summer recruits Park Ji-Sung and Jose Bosingwa. The former Tottenham manager will be looking to make changes in his side, who were unimpressive against Liverpool at the weekend.
