Chelsea are reportedly looking to spend £35million on Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, who has threatened to leave the Spanish giant unless they double his current wages, according to a Sun report.

The 24-year-old Argentinean, who was transferred from Portuguese side Benfica to Real Madrid at a fee of €25 million in 2010, turned down Real Madrid's £70,000-a-week offer, saying that he wants his wage to be increased to £80,000 per week (a figure similar to the salary of his senior teammates).

So now, all of Europe's top clubs, especially Chelsea (who are looking for a talented wing-man), will be pondering their move on the talented wingman, who is fast and tricky with a zeal for real attacking football.

Di Maria, who has also represented his national side at the Under-20, Under-23 and senior levels, has also been praised by Argentinean legend Diego Maradona, who believes that Di Maria has all the qualities of a star footballer.

"Angel has the quality to be a worldwide superstar within the next two years. I have always followed his career closely, and his level has increased enormously during the time he has been playing in Europe," ESPN Soccernet quoted Maradona as saying.
