The Ghana international, who was also understood be attracting interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this summer, has pledged his future to the Blues and signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

"The transfer of Christian Atsu from FC Porto has been completed. The 21-year-old Ghana international, who has signed a five-year contract, will be joining Vitesse Arnhem on loan for the season," read a statement on the club's official website.

Atsu, who joined Porto in January 2010 from native side Cheetah, mainly operates as a left winger but can also play as a supporting striker.

The winger, who was Porto's Youth Player of the Season in 2010/11, broke into the Portuguese outfit's first team last season, making 17 league appearances in a successful domestic campaign and also featured in eight Champions League matches.

Atsu also made his senior international debut for Ghana in June last year against Lesotho in a World Cup qualifier and has been a regular for the Black Stars ever since. He was also part of the squad that played the Africa Cup of Nations at the beginning of the year.

Match Rescheduled

Meanwhile, Chelsea also announced their Premier League match against London rivals West Ham United at Upton Park, scheduled for 24 November, has now been moved a day ahead, owing to their participation in the UEFA Champions League.

"Due to Chelsea's participation in the Champions League on Tuesday 26 November, the Barclays Premier League match away against West Ham United will now take place on Saturday 23 November with a 5.30pm kick-off," the club stated.
