Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has ruled out a proposal to lure Chelsea star Pedro Rogriguez back to the Camp Nou during the January transfer window, according to Sport. The Spanish publication claims that the Catalan board offered the manager the chance to get the winger on loan until the end of the campaign following Jose Mourinho's dismissal, but the manager rejected that option because he just wants Nolito or Villarreal's Denis Suarez.

Pedro moved to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window after the Blues triggered his £22m ($32m) release clause. The Canary Island player decided to leave the club following 11 successful seasons at the Camp Nou after seen his playing time restricted due to the unmovable presence of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez in Enrique's attack.

Barcelona have since been looking into the market to find a proper replacement, but being unable to sign any player during the summer due to their Fifa transfer ban they postpone the move until January.

Luis Enrique has not hidden that his first choice would be to bring Celta Vigo forward Nolito to fill the gap, having coached him already both at Celta and at the Barcelona second team. However, reports in Spain have claimed in recent weeks that the Catalan board are unlikely to sign the Spanish international due to their financial situation, as they can't afford to meet his release clause and would rather to secure the services of a free-agent or someone on loan instead.

Sport claims that therefore Barcelona board recently offered Enrique the chance to secure the services of Pedro on loan until the end of the season – as well Red Bull Salzburg striker Jonathan Soriano.

The Spanish publication claims that Pedro would accept a return to the Champions League winners because he has already regretted his move to Chelsea. However, the manager turned down his potential comeback because he believes he is already "past" for Barcelona, while he also ruled out securing the services of Soriano because he is a number nine, and he would rather to get a winger instead.

The Spanish publication claims that Enrique is insisting his board make an effort to sign Nolito, and that he would only accept Denis Suarez as an alternative. Former Manchester City academy star Suarez was signed by Villarreal from Barcelona last summer, but the Catalan club kept an option to get him back him on the cheap.
