Overview

The first leg between the Europa League winners and the Turkish champions at Istanbul ended in a 1-1 draw. Fernando Torres opened the scoring for the Blues in the ninth minute. However, Aurelien Chedjou's second half goal saw Chelsea settle for a draw in the away fixture.

Meanwhile, in their last league tie, Jose Mourinho saw his side suffer a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the league at Villa Park. Fabian Delph's solitary goal was the difference between the two sides as the west London club were reduced to nine-men after the sending off of Brazilian duo Willian and Ramires.

In the domestic competitions, Chelsea are on top of the table with 66 points from 30 games.

Galatasaray, on the other hand, come into this crucial fixture with a goalless draw against Karabukspor. The result has seen Roberto Mancini's side see the gap increase at the top of the table to five points, as the Turkish champions are second with 49 points after 25 games.

A victory for either side at Stamford Bridge will see them progress top the last eight of the Europe's elite club competition.

What Managers Say

Jose Mourinho: "He [Drogba] is a Galatasaray player, we know he is a free agent and we know he finishes his contract at the end of the season. "But we think it is not the right moment to speak about him.I think it has to happen one day. When, I don't know - as a player, as a coach, as an ambassador - next year, in four or five years, in 10 years - I don't know."

Roberto Mancini: "I said some perfectly normal things but someone stirred it up into controversy and he got offended. In Istanbul we saw each other and said only 'hello'. We certainly aren't friends. I don't think Mourinho wants to have friends, or maybe that's just the way he likes to appear."
