As refreshing as country music is, the flared gowns full of ruffles and sequins seemed to be a breath of fresh air at the 2016 CMAs red carpet. The 50th celebration of the longest-running awards ceremony, which was held on 2 November in Nashville, saw country crooners and celebrities turning out in their glamorous best with a hint of sparkle and the 'in-vogue' dark pout.

Nine-time CMAs host Carrie Underwood was the one to lead the best-dressed list for the evening as she flaunted one sparkling look after another at the event. IBTimes UK has compiled a rundown of the best gowns and striking looks from the night.

The American Idol breakthrough seemed to be a channelling a Disney princess look on the CMAs red carpet as she strutted in her blush pink Michael Cinco gown. Underwood's heavily-beaded dress was a product of Swarovski crystals and pearls, and she further accentuated the sparkling style with Butani diamond earrings.

Jennifer Garner

The Pearl Harbor actress took country-fashion by a storm as she donned a more contemporary style in a strapless black gown. Garner's A-line Jenny Packham attire was embellished with golden embroideries on the bodice while the body-hugging skirt kept it rather simple. She let her brunette locks loose, lighting up the red carpet with her bright smile and David Webb accessories.

Country artist Lambert's all-black attire cut a striking figure at the CMAs . The 32-year-old Vice singer paired her sensual attire with Monika Chiang pumps and a Lee Savage clutch. While the pulled-back soft blonde hair complemented the look, she added some edge with dark smokey makeup.

Kelsea Ballerini

Someone had to bring out the floral frolic on the red carpet and for the CMAs it was none other than Peter Pan hitmaker, Kelsea Ballerini. Her rose-printed fuchsia Michael Costello dress featured a flowy train along with a plunging deep-V neckline. Ballerini rocked the princess-y look with blood-red lips and diamond sparklers.

Kacey Musgraves

Decked in her custom Christian Siriano dress, country singer Musgraves looked like an adorable three-tier cake at the red carpet event. With her well-coifed raven hair and dark pout, the songstress channelled a foxy look with panache.
