The first edition of the 2013 Coachella music festival concluded on Sunday, with Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) rocking a packed California desert amid windy conditions.

People in the audience resorted to bandanas and hoods, faced as they were with winds of up to 35mph. The spirit of Coachella 2013 lived on though, in its 14th year. Music lovers were treated to an array of top singers and groups, including Blur, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Stone Roses from the UK and folk rock groups from Iceland.

There was also Hollywood-style glamour at Coachella 2013, with the stars of the Twilight series of vampire-themed fantasy films - Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson - in attendance. The glamorous pair appear to have recovered from the controversy surrounding Stewart's infidelity but rumours say they smoked marijuana at the event.

Incidentally, British director Rupert Sanders, with whom Kristen Stewart had said fling, was also present at Coachella this weekend.

Meanwhile, apart from the Twilight connection, troubled Hollywood actor Lindsay Lohan was spotted at the event, with her brother. Other stars seen were veteran actor/director Clint Eastwood, Oscar-nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Glee star Chris Golfer, Tom Cruise's son Connor and Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio.

Back to the music though, and RHCP belted out popular songs from their last four studio albums, including Dani California, Californication and Under The Bridge.

The recently re-united Wu-Tung Clan were the penultimate act on stage and drew, predictably, a huge crown. The hip hop group performed hit singles, including Bring da Ruckus and Clan in da Front.

Among the other artistes on show, English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware and the electronics-tinged Grimes and La Roux thrilled the crowd on the final day of the first weekend.
