The traditional curtain-raiser for the English Premier League kicks-off this afternoon when defending champions Manchester United take on FA Cup holders Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Both sides are hotly-tipped to challenge both domestically and in Europe this season and today's match promises a taster for what the rest of the season has in store.

City beat United in their FA Cup semifinal encounter last season, while in the league, a late Wayne Rooney overhead goal gave United the victory when the two sides met at Old Trafford. The corresponding fixture at the City of Manchester Stadium finished level.
