A TV presenter at the Rio Olympics had an awkward moment when what appeared to be the antics of an amorous couple were captured in the background during a live telecast. On 19 August, BBC's sports presenter Dan Walker was interrupted by the couple who appeared to be having sex on the beach in the background.

Soon the live romance overshadowed the sports coverage and viewers started tweeting to BBC to zoom in on the unidentified couple. Walker quickly realised something was wrong and came up with the explanation that they were "reading a book" on the beach "in a strange pose".

"For those asking what's going on in the background now on social media now, we're not going to zoom in but rest assured, it's not that. It's just a hug, they're reading a book," he chuckled. "They're reading a book in a strange pose. We'll find out what the book is a little bit later on."

Viewers of the show found it hard to buy the explanation but the show presenter stood firm. "Just for clarification... they were reading a book!!! That couple were definitely reading a book," he tweeted.

Further, the BBC sports presenter shared a picture of a couple reading a book while relaxing on each other on the beach. "While you were all watching the #Hockey, on BBC1 we had some more 'reading' on BBC4 #CopacaBookClub," he captioned it.

A reader compared the whimsical moment to WE TV's live sex show, Sex Box. "BBC with that of Is this the BBCFour version of Sex Box?" he replied to Walker's post. "I got arrested for 'reading' on the beach once," another user wrote sarcastically.
