Kenny Dalglish has enough reason to remain optimistic now as the season progresses into 2012. Anfield on Friday evening saw some masterclass football peppered with an amazing show by Craig Bellamy, which helped Liverpool earn the fifth place in the Premier League table after beating Newcastle United 3-1.

Newcastle had the first breakthrough when Daniel Agger became instrumental for an own goal on 25 minutes. But it took just four minutes before Liverpool levelled the score when Bellamy finished with a right-foot shot. The Welsh striker scored again on 66 minutes.

Steven Gerrard too scored for Liverpool, his second goal of the season, 12 minutes from time. Liverpool earned all the three points.
