Cristiano Ronaldo blasted by Miss Universe for 'ordering designer babies from surrogate mother'

Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed the news of his double baby joy on 29 June by posting the first snap of his twins on social media. Although the father-of-three seems to be revelling since welcoming the kids, allegedly via a surrogate, he has also attracted criticism from a former Miss Universe.

Venezuelan-American actress Alicia Machado recently attacked the football star over claims of using a surrogate for his latest bundle of joys. Known for courting controversy, the 40-year-old went on to slam Ronaldo saying that it was against her "religious beliefs".

"I do not agree, I don't believe in it. That goes against my religious beliefs," Machado told People magazine. "I agree with that kind of experimenting only when there is a need [like] a mom who maybe has a sister that lends her body."

The beauty pageant winner was in news last year after she claimed to have been fat-shamed by US President Donald Trump. But now, she seems to be voicing her opinions against popular A-listers for using surrogates.

She said, "What I disagree with is that it has become a trend among many celebrities. Those who have the money go and order children, and I don't agree with that."

Although she acknowledged that the situation is different for same sex couples or people with medical issues, Machado had little sympathy when it comes to regular celebs.

"Celebrities simply do it for style or tax evasion," the actress claimed. "I've been discriminated against for being a single mother, and then you see these dudes who earn million-dollar salaries for running behind a ball, and suddenly it becomes a trend to order blonde hair [and] blue eyed kids. It's freaky!"

As for Ronaldo's baby news, it's the second time that the Portuguese international is reported to have become a father via surrogacy.

Since welcoming the twins - believed to be named Mateo and Eva – the footballer's Instagram has been filled with their pictures also featuring his first son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr and girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez.
