Cristiano Ronaldo
The couple appear to have taken inspiration from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Vogue cover Vogue

He is an accomplished football player who has a number of trophies under his belt, but ahead of the World Cup Cristiano Ronaldo is showing off some of his other assets.

The Madrid striker, who will suit up for Portugal in June, has stripped down to his birthday suit for the latest issue of Spanish Vogue.

On the racy cover, shot by renowned photographer Mario Testino, the 29-year-old star, poses with his model girlfriend Irina Shayk.

The Russian beauty looks stunning in a strapless white dress which features a thigh-high split but all eyes are on Ronaldo who stands naked behind her. It is only the fabric on her dress as well as the smart text placement that protects his modesty.

The photogenic pair's saucy spread, which is titled 'Amor & Fútbol', meaning 'Love and Football', could not be more appropriate.

Another image shows Ronaldo lying topless on a rug while Shayk straddles him. He turned up the heat by pulling down her trousers to reveal her pert bottom.

Shayk, who is a Victoria's Secret model, described the shoot as 'effortless'.

"Mario and Carlyne [Cerf De Dudzeele] were the first high fashion people to say yes when the rest said no [to the shoot]," Shayk told E! News "Shooting with them was effortless and magical and like a family reunion sharing something as special as this together."

Ronaldo is not the first male star to go nude for Vogue.

In 2000, Robbie Williams appeared sans clothes for the British version of the fashion Bible. His provocative image was also shot by Testino.

Ronaldo and Shayk's shoot comes just weeks after reality star Kim Kardashian graced the cover of American Vogue with her rapper fiancé Kanye West. The 33-year-old donned a strapless wedding dress as the Yeezus star snuggles into her neck and puts his arms around her waist.
