Cristiano Ronaldo has said he wants to stay with Real Madrid until the end of his contract, but has admitted he's unsure what his plans are after that.

The 27 year old Portugal international seemed destined to leave Madrid after admitting he was "sad" for professional reasons earlier in the season, with Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson saying he would love for Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford.

But the r Ballon d'Or runner-up has told fifa.com, "I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid: I'm very clear about that. After that, well, I don't know what'll happen in the future."

Ronaldo contract expires in the summer of 2015, meaning that he could be at the Spanish giants for at least another two years. But he might not want to stay at the Bernebau if the club aren't challenging for titles. After Madrid's disappointing goalless draw with bottom-club Osasuna on Saturday, the club find themselves a whopping 18 points behind runaway leaders Barcelona.

Madrid's best hope of silverware now lies in the Champions League, where in the second round Ronaldo will come face to face with former club United for the first time since leaving England in the summer of 2009.
