Overview

Croatia's road to the semi-final was not without drama. When their singles players Marin Cilic and Borna Coric suffered defeats to the United States of America on the opening day, things looked very bleak for the European team.

However, the Croatian players roared back to win their next three games with Cilic and Ivan Dodig teaming up to beat the Bryan brothers before Coric and Cilic took revenge for their opening day loss by beating John Isner and Jack Sock respectively.

The Europeans, whose team comprises Cilic, Coric, Dodig and Draganja, come into this clash as the underdogs.

Their opponents France managed a comeback in their quarter-final tie against the Czech Republic and enter this clash full of confidence. The French team, despite getting off to a bad start, eventually registered an easy 3-1 win and are the favourites to reach the final.

Any side with players like Gael Monfils, Jo-Wilfried Tsong and the top tanked doubles pair of Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert will be a tough nut to crack.

Betting odds (888sport)

  • Croatia: 7/5
  • France: 6/11

Head-to-head

The two teams have faced each other once in the past way back in 2004 in the World Group first round. France won that tie easily, coming out 4-1 winners.
