A transsexual police worker from Croydon has been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a 64-year-old man in Mitcham.

Helen Doe, 52, of Montgomery Close, Mitcham, has appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder of a man at an address on the same street on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 2.50am and treated the victim's head injury, which was not thought to be life-threatening.

Doe, who works for Metropolitan Police Uniform Services, has now been remanded in custody until she appears at Kingston Crown Court on 21 July.
