Steve McClaren's appointment as head coach earlier in the season seems to have paid off as Derby County are enjoying their season in the Championship. They are in contention for a promotion to the Premier League next season currently sitting fourth with 44 points, seven off Leicester City on top of the table.
Striker Chris Martin and midfielder Craig Bryson are in sensational form having featured in all the 24 matches in the Championship for the Rams, scoring 23 goals and grabbing 13 assists between them. Derby began 2014 with a defeat at home to Wigan Athletic. The former England manager will be wishing for his side to stand up to the visitors and pull of a giant kill on Sunday.
Since suffering a 2-1 defeat at Sunderland in the Capital One Cup, Chelsea have responded well and are unbeaten in their last four games winning the last three on the trot. The Blues were successful in their last outing, conveniently dispatching Southampton by three goals to nil.
The west London club are currently sitting third in the league table on 43 points after 20 matches, two shy off leaders Arsenal. Jose Mourinho will be keen to put maintain the winning momentum and look to knock Derby out of the competition with little hassle.
What Managers Say
Steve McClaren: "This is a huge test for us and we're up against a side that, I would expect, will finish in the top two in the Premier League this season.
We are going to need to compete, work hard, show great attitudes, have a will to win and display a huge amount of courage too. We have nothing to lose."
Jose Mourinho: "The FA Cup has a special feeling, a special meaning. I was lucky to win lots of trophies but to win the FA Cup at Wembley and feel what it means was one of my high moments in my career. I have a good feeling for the competition and the good things this country has in terms of football, we have to keep them."
