Laptop cases come in more sizes, shapes and prices than you can shake a stick it, but now it seems that we're not happy with a £20 bag from PC World, and premium designers are getting involved, too.

With the likes of Mulberry and Paul Smith jumping on the laptop bag bandwagon, here at the IBTimes we've found five of the best designer bags and cases to keep your notebook safe.

Mulberry 15" Brynmore bag for MacBook Pro - £675

The Mulberry Brynmore, with its £675 price tag, may well cost more than the laptop it's designed to carry, but those who are familiar with the Mulberry brand will know what their getting for the high price. Made out of 100 per cent tanned Italian leather, the bag is part of an exclusive collection only available at the Apple Store and is made for the 15" MacBook Pro, but we're will to bet that any similarly sized laptop will fit just fine.

Inside, there's space for your laptop, two compartments for iPhones or iPods and a couple of holes through which you can feed your headphones. There's also an extra drawstring back to store cables in.

Paul Smith 13" Retro Print Despatch Bag - £224.95

This Paul Smith bag features a classic Mini sporting the company's iconic striped design and surrounded by retro televisions and stereos, making it stand out from the usual selection of dull grey backpacks littering the morning commute. Inside, the bag is lined with purple 'bubble foam' and there's a slot for your laptop - up to 13 inches - and other pockets for cables, phones and a notebook.

The bag has a shoulder strap and a waist strap - meaning that it can be worn securely whilst riding a bike.

AO Alley Capellino Narrow Despatch Satchel 13" - £134.95

Tried and tested by the IBTimes, the narrow satchel by AO Alley Capellino is a great bag for carrying a 13-inch laptop. Designed for the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro, this bag has a laptop compartment, dedicated iPhone pocket and three other zip pockets for anything else you might want to carry around. While remaining subtle on the outside with showerproof grey canvas and black leather, the inside is light green. There's a padded, adjustable shoulder strap and the back is also padded to ensure that your laptop is safe and the bag remains comfortable.

Paul Smith 13" Airmail print envelope case - £79.95

Although not a bag, the Paul Smith Airmail Print Envelope Case has earned a place in this top five for having the most original design of the five. Designed to look like an airmail envelope, this sleeve features 'bubble foam' lining, a strong wax cotton finish and high quality leather flap. The sleeve carries Paul Smith's trademark purple lining and there's also a small pocket for a pen and notepad or MP3 player.

Hard Graft Flat Pack / Driftwood - €198

Hard Graft is an Austrian company known for making high quality sleeves for iOS devices, Kindles and MacBooks out of leather and woollen felt, but is also produces larger bags, too. Although being blessed with a name more at home on the shelves of IKEA, the Flat Pack / Driftwood is a satchel made to carry the MacBook Air 11" and iPad, along with space for accessories, too. The bag uses tan leather on the outside and Hard Graft's signature grey woollen felt on the inside, with a zip along the top edge.
