I'm A Celebrity 2016
I'm A Celeb superfan Scarlett Moffatt has been crowned queen of the jungle ITV/I'm A Celebrity

She may have won over the voting public as she was crowned the winner of 2016's I'm A Celeb on Sunday night (4 December), but Scarlett Moffatt was accused of being disingenuous over her apparent fear of lifts by eagle-eyed viewers.

The 26-year-old, who won the reality series beating Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas, previously claimed she had a phobia of small spaces and had hoped the final Bushtucker trial would help her get over her anxieties.

After discovering that she would be enclosed in a small space while being covered in creepy crawlies, Moffatt told I'm A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec: "I can feel myself getting upset.

"But I feel if I can do this I might finally be able to go in lifts because I was on the 34th floor out here and I walked the stairs because I can't stand small spaces," she added.

But viewers took to Twitter to express their views on the star's supposed fear, with one viewer posting a photo montage of Moffatt in a lift with the caption:

"Did @ScarlettMoffatt not think to delete her lift photos before lying about her lift fear? #ImACeleb#ScarlettMoffat".

Another wrote: "Scarlett in a lift though @Schofe before she went in the jungle on her Instagram - how genuine was her phobia?!" as a third added: "#ScarlettMoffat looking not that terrified about being on a lift on her instagram! #notthatscared !"

Moffatt enthusiasts were left baffled after noticing that she often takes rather relaxed-looking selfies in lifts with her boyfriend Luke Crodden – but openly spoke about her fear of confined spaces on the show last night.

Ant and Dec revealed that the Cavern of Claws for her final trial would entail her going into a cave, lying on her back and being sealed inside; she would then have five minutes to find five stars for three desserts, a drink and a treat.

Ant commented that the task may be very tough for Moffatt considering she had a "real phobia" of small spaces. She responded: "I can feel myself getting upset. But I feel if I can do this I might finally be able to go in lifts because I was on the 34th floor out here and I walked the stairs because I can't stand small spaces."

Meanwhile, in the wake of her television success, the Gogglebox star is said to have sparked a battle between Channel 4 and ITV for her very own show.

After charming the nation with her bubbly personality, Moffatt appears to have won over TV chiefs who now look set to offer her a dream job on the small screen.

A source said: "Her down-to-earth attitude and quirky sense of humour really won over viewers of I'm A Celebrity.

"Channel 4 and ITV are both interested in signing her up exclusively for their channels. There has even been talk of her fronting her own TV show. Scarlett will be ecstatic. She went into the jungle in the hope that it would lead to TV work," Daily Express reports.

"This is her chance to go from someone known for watching TV on her sofa to someone known for being on TV in her own right," the source added.

It has also been suggested that the offers are in the region of £500,000 for Moffatt to host her own programme – and she has also been offered the chance to write her official autobiography.
