Doctor Who fans have been given another reason to get excited as Matt Lucas has posted a new video on set as the filming of series 10 continues.

The former Little Britain star, 42, looked excited in the teaser video which showed him outside Cardiff University with the picturesque white building and camera crew in the background.

Looking snug in a cosy orange duffle coat, Lucas revealed that he was "ecstatic" to come back to the show as he took a break from shooting scenes alongside Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) and Pearl Mackie (new companion Bill).

He said: "Hello viewer, it's me here. Not David Walliams, the other one. And I'm ecstatic because it's my first day back on Doctor Who. Originally I was just in the Christmas special, and now I find myself returning!

"I'm very excited – and we're here on location today [,,,] – we're at Cardiff University doing some running around. It's nice!"

Though he claims he is "returning for more advenures", it is not yet known what storylines his character Nardole will be involved in. Nardole was a future human in the Doctor Who 2015 Christmas special, The Husbands of River Song, and viewers thought he had died after his head was removed by the nefarious King Hydroflax.

So how he will return to series 10 with his head firmly in place remains to be seen, but we can presume it's doable as far as Doctor Who goes.

Lucas has had a colourful career since shooting to fame during Little Britain with now-Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams, writing Pompidou for BBC2 as well as playing identical twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee in Alice in Wonderland and its 2016 sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Doctor Who series 10 will return in 2017 after the Christmas special airs in December of this year. Watch Lucas' clip below.
