Country legend Dolly Parton has some marriage advice for her goddaughter Miley Cyrus. The Jolene hitmaker has told Cyrus and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth that she wants the couple to respect and "be loving and kind" to each other.

"I just say to be respectful and mindful of the other person's feelings and try to compromise when you need to," the 70-year-old singer told Digital Spy. (via Times of India)

"Don't ever start arguing because that can become a habit and a pattern. Better to just walk away than to start throwing things back and forth and all that. I would say be cautious and be careful. And be loving and kind!"

Parton added that she met Hemsworth before the couple had called off their previous engagement in 2013.

"I met him briefly when she was with him the first time, before they broke up for a while. He seemed like a good guy. But if she has chosen him, he must be special," she revealed.

Ever since Cyrus and Hemsworth reunited in December 2015, the couple have been plagued by wedding rumours. The gossip spiralled after the 23-year-old singer shared a photo of herself wearing a diamond ring on Instagram.

According to reports, the two are planning to tie the knot in a beach ceremony in Australia.

However, "the rush is no longer on", a source recently told HollywoodLife. "They are looking to dive into marriage after [Cyrus's] duties with The Voice are completed."

The couple started dating each other after meeting on the set of the movie The Last Song in 2009.
