There are several types of people Republican nominee Donald Trump does not like having at his rallies: most journalists, protesters and now, crying babies. During a campaign stop in Ashburn, Virginia today (2 August), Trump booted a mother and her crying baby from his rally.

Trump was first disrupted mid-speech by the infant's cries but he claimed he did not mind the interruption. "Don't worry about that baby. I love babies," Trump assured the crowd. "Don't worry about it. I love babies. I hear that baby crying, I like it. What a baby. What a beautiful baby. Don't worry, don't worry. The mum's running around like – don't worry about it, you know. It's young and beautiful and healthy and that's what we want."

But apparently that is not what he wanted at all. According to Politico, Trump returned to his non-baby-related speech only to be interrupted once again. "They have ripped us to shreds, ripped us absolutely to shreds," Trump began before once again turning his attention to the woman and her child.

"Actually, I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here," Trump said as the crowd cheered and laughed. "That's all right. Don't worry. I, I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I'm speaking. That's OK. People don't understand. That's OK."

The mother-baby duo were not the only ones to be removed from the rally. According to The New York Times, a group in AARP shirts and another group of silent protesters were escorted out by staffers midway through his speech. Another crying baby later in the rally, however, did not suffer the same fate.

Trump reportedly let the baby cry until calming down by itself.

The GOP nominee's baby incident was quickly picked up by Democratic vice presidential nominee, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine. The Times reported that Kaine took a swipe at Trump as he discussed the issue of pre-kindergarten at a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida. "I saw that Donald Trump kicked a crying baby out of an event earlier today," Kaine said, "so as I'm thinking about pre-K, sometimes you wonder who the baby is." The remark was met with laughter.

Kaine later took to Twitter to take another shot at Trump. "First Trump attacked the Hotel Roanoke. Then a Gold Star VA family. Today, he kicked a baby out of a VA rally. Virginia is not for haters!" he tweeted.

Trump has yet to comment on the growing crying baby scandal.
