A job advert in Dublin has gone viral after offering a rather lucrative job – if you are a fan of cats.

Just Cats Veterinary Clinic & Cattery is recruiting for a professional "cat cuddler" to look after the animals during procedures and treatments, and the individual chosen could receive up to £24k a year to carry out the job.

Aoife Caulfield, who works at the clinic, said the candidate would work closely with nurses, as well as catering to both cats and owners.

"We are considering a veterinary intern, a nurse position or a nurse's assistant and their title will be appropriate to their role.

"However, the essence of the job is having a staff member that is responsible for ensuring that our patients and guests have a pleasant experience while receiving their healthcare."

She continued: "By helping the cat and the owner to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible when they come to visit, we give our patients the best chance of receiving high-quality health care and continuing to engage with us."

It is noted in the job advertisement that the vet will offer between £19k and £24k to whoever is selected, but in the requirements it asks five questions of would-be candidates:

    • Are you a crazy cat person and loves cats?
    • Does cattitude come naturally to you?
    • Have you counted kittens before you go asleep?
    • Do you feed the stray cats in your locality?
    • Does petting cats make you feel warm and fuzzy?

Further desired qualities include "gentle hands capable of petting and stroking cats for long periods of time," a soft-spoken demeanor and "an ability to understand different types of purring."
