Prince Philip, the 91-year-old husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth, has left hospital in Scotland where he was being treated for a bladder infection.

Smiling and looking sprightly, the prince, wearing a summer blazer, shook hands and thanked staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary before giving a cheery wave.Worryingly this is the third time in eight months that Philip had been in hospital and the second time he had had treatment for a bladder infection.

Prince Philip was then driven off in a land rover to Balmoral where the rest of the Royal family are having their traditional summer holiday.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said the prince is expected to resume his official duties very shortly.
