Overview

Poirier comes into this fight after winning his last four bouts. His last win was against Bobby Green in the UFC 199 in June. The fight lasted for two minutes and 52 seconds as The Diamond took his overall tally to 20 wins in 24 fights.

The 27-year-old is the favourite for Saturday's fight in Hidalgo as it is for the first time that the UFC fight will be held there. His opponent enters this fight after losing the last two consecutive fights.

Johnson lost his last fight to Nate Diaz in December and The Menace will return to the Octagon for the first time since his 10-month layoff. He was set for a re-match with Tony Ferguson in March, only for the match to be called off after his doctor discovered Johnson had a torn labrum and an issue with his rotator cuff, both of which needed shoulder surgery.

What they say

Michael Johnson: "I'm extremely hungry, like 'Hungry Hippos' times a thousand. I've been extremely hungry ever since the night of December the 19th, the night I lost to Nate Diaz. That should tell you how hungry I am that I remember that exact date. I got my surgery, I was little down in the dumps, but I got healthy. Ever since, my mindset has been in an extremely great place."
