Star Wars Battlefront
Luke Skywalker is playable in Star Wars Battlefront. EA

The first gameplay footage from Star Wars: Battlefront's multiplayer has been revealed at EA's E3 press conference in Los Angeles. The footage confirms the addition of Luke Skywalker as a playable character.

You can watch the five minute look at a battle taking place on the snow planet of Hoth below...

Re-enacting the classic Hoth battle sequence seen in 1980's Empire Strikes Back, the footage shows a chaotic 40 player skirmish on the ice planet featuring just about every classic vehicle from the series.

We see AT-AT and AT-ST walkers fighting ground troops with jet-packs as they defend or attack a base on the map. We also see what it will be like to control the enormous AT-AT walker, as well as Rebel Snow Speeders (which naturally take down the AT-AT) and TIE Fighters.

The demo ends with a look at what it's like to control Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in the game as he clashes with Darth Vader on the battlefield. All the footage was captured from the PS4 build of the game.

Luke Skywalker joins Boba Fett and Darth Vader as unlockable characters in the game, with other characters and vehicles yet to be announced.

Star Wars: Battlefront will be released 17 November 2015.
