Ellen DeGeneres has denied rumours that she and Portia de Rossi are headed for a split. The Emmy award-winning star, who tied the knot with the 43-year-old Australian actress in 2008, described Portia as 'the love of my life."

The 58-year-old told People magazine the speculation about their marriage is unfounded and she is grateful for her relationship.

"I'm not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere," she explained. "I can't imagine not being married. I have my best friend, the person I want to spend time with more than anybody else in the world. Not everybody finds that.

"I'm grateful for everything. I'm grateful for my health, and I'm so grateful for the love in my life."

According to Mail Online, she added that she doesn't take her relationship with the 43-year-old Scandal star for granted. "Portia and I constantly say to each other, 'We are so lucky.' Sometimes it's lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there," Ellen added.

"I've gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I'm not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere. I'm not saying the relationship took a while; I'm saying in my life, it took a while to find this."

While both have successful careers in TV, DeGeneres said that they prioritise their relationship. "Our priorities are each other. If we had kids, then I'm sure they would be, but we are. And that's important."

"As for family, they are 'people who get you. I think the word "love" is thrown around, like, "I love you" is great to hear, but you want to feel it"' she said.

"You want to feel that you're understood, and they know exactly who you are, and they know how to take care of you. That, to me, is family. I don't think it has anything to do with blood relation. Family for everyone is different."

The A-list couple tied the knot in 2008 at their home in Beverly Hills after the state of California lifted its ban on same-sex marriages.

There have been several reports that the couple's marriage was on the rocks, to which they have repeatedly denied the claims. They celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on 16 August.
