A naked selfie resembling American actress Emma Stone has been claimed to be a hoax.

In the photo that went viral, a woman who looks like the 25-year-old actress is seen standing fully naked in front of a bathroom mirror and taking photos with a cell phone.

However, sources close to Stone have told TMZ that the photo is definitely not of the actress.

The Easy A actress, who is dating Andrew Garfield, has always stayed away from showing her skin on screen.

"My dad would kill me if I posed naked," she had told the New Zealand Herald newspaper in 2011. "He wouldn't speak to me again and I really love my dad, so that's always something that makes me a little nervous."

Stone was earlier caught in a sex tape scandal with a former boyfriend, which was supposedly shot long before she became famous.

"Emma Stone has a sex tape and that's a fact," a source had told Radar Online then. "She made it long before she started dating Andrew Garfield [her Spider-Man co-star], and before she really became a household name. She was just young and probably thought nothing would ever come of it."

"The tape remains in the hands of the person she made it with," the insider added, "But that doesn't mean there's any guarantee that it won't eventually hit the market. The higher Emma's star rises, the more valuable that tape becomes."

"Emma's really happy with her career and proud of where she is," the source said.

"There's no way she would organise the release of the tape; in fact, she would fight to stop it. She has no respect for women like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton who became famous because they released a sex tape."
