Overview

England collapsed in the 2nd ODI for 99 runs, allowing Sri Lanka to draw level in the series last Sunday. However, it was the visitors' turn to collapse in the 3rd ODI as the home side took a 2-1 lead following a comfortable victory by 10 wickets at Old Trafford in Manchester.

The Lankans were all out for 67 runs as Chris Jordan starred for Peter Moores' side, snatching five wickets. Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Angelo Mathews were the only batsmen to reach double figures scoring 13, 12 and 11 runs respectively.

James Anderson and James Tredwell shared four wickets evenly among themselves while Ravi Bopara was responsible for the runout of Ashan Priyanjan.

On the batting front, captain Alastair Cook and fellow opener Ian Bell showed enough composure to score the winning runs in 50 minutes needing 12.1 overs. The former scored 30 runs from 40 balls while his right-handed compatriot scored 41 runs from 33 deliveries.

England might choose to stick to an unchanged side as they have a chance of putting the five-match series beyond the visitors' reach.

Sri Lanka's interim coach Marvan Attapatu will be hoping that his players will have learned their lesson from the previous game. Mathews and his teammates will look to respond strongly to the humiliation and bounce back, in order to stand a chance of winning the series next Tuesday.
