Overview

India come into this game after registering a comfortable victory over England in the third ODI at Trent Bridge. The win comes after defeating the host nation in the second match and the world champions now have a 2-0 lead after three matches as the first match ended without a result due to bad weather.

MS Dhoni won the toss in the last fixture and made Alastair Cook's side to bat first. The decision to field first did not pay off for India during the early stages of the match as England openers Cook and Alex Hales gave a good start.

However, the dismissal of Hales (42) in the 18th over, followed by Cook's (44) departure saw England suffer a middle order collapse with Jos Buttler (42) and Steven Finn's knock of 30 down the order helped the Three Lions cross a total of 200.

They managed 227 runs and lost the 10th wicket in the last delivery of their innings. In reply, India had no trouble in chasing the total, despite losing Shikhar Dhawan (16) early. Ajinkya Rahane (45) and Virat Kohli (40) made sure their side did not lose any wickets as they managed 50 runs partnership between them.

After the right-handed opening batsman's dismissal, Kohli got along with Ambati Rayudu as the latter remained unbeaten at 64. He guided India to their second consecutive win on English soil as they reached the target with seven overs to spare.

With that victory, India have taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. After suffering a series defeat in the longer format of the game, Dhoni and his men can be assured that they will not lose the ODI series with two games to spare.

A victory on Tuesday will confirm an ODI series victory, while a defeat will give a chance for England to level the series in the fifth and the final match at Headingley.
