Christian Eriksen's agent has refused to comment on speculation that Tottenham Hotspur have made an official approach for his client, having lost out on signing Willian who instead joined London rivals Chelsea.

Spurs were believed to be the favourites to sign the Brazilian midfielder but saw Chelsea come in with a last minute offer that Anzhi Makhachkala were unable to turn down.

With the 25 year old completing his medical at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, Tottenham were said to have turned their attention to Ajax midfielder Eriksen who has less than a year remaining on his current contract.

Reports in Denmark claimed that Tottenham had made an approach for the Ajax playmaker but his agent has refused to be drawn into commenting on whether there is interest from the north London club.

"We don't choose to comment on reports of this kind," agent Martin Schoots told Danish daily Tips Bladet."Christian wants to focus on football and that is very good.

"At the weekend he provided two assists and scored a goal himself. We intend to keep [talk confined to] that. Sorry, I cannot say any more."

Eriksen has scored two league goals in three appearances for Ajax this season and would be available for a relatively low sum as his contract expires next summer.

The Denmark international has a wealth of experience in the Champions League and has helped Ajax win three consecutive league titles.

Tottenham are believed to be interested in further strengthening their squad this summer, despite already signing Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho and Etienne Capoue, and winning their first two Premier League games.

Eriksen has already rejected moves to Zenit St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen, while Liverpool have repeatedly been mentioned as holding an interest.

However, there is yet to be an official offer from Tottenham or Liverpool and it seems Eriksen could yet remain at Ajax where he has already enjoyed plenty of success.
