Seventeen-year-old Ethiopian girl Werkitu Dababan, who was born a "parasitic twin", with four arm and four legs. Has successfully undergone surgery in the country's capital Addis Ababa.

Werkitu still wrapped in her hospital robe explained at a medical press conference following surgery, how her life was affected. She then walked slowly to show what a difference the surgery had made.

"I thought that everybody was just like me when I was a kid. But I began to realize that I was different from others when people made fun of my appearance in my third and fourth grade. I could not take the mocking any more after my seventh grade and I dropped out of school. I have been staying at home since then."

A Parasitic twin occurs when a twin embryo begins developing, but the pair do not fully separate, and one embryo maintains dominant development at the expense of the other. These pictures show the eight limbs, of which two are underdeveloped arms and two are legs protruding from her pelvis. This deformity only occurs one in half million births.

What an amazing operation and it has been confirmed that Werkitu is doing well.
