Overview

Everton saw their last fixture against Crystal Palace being postponed. The game prior to that saw Roberto Martinez's side suffer a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane earlier this month.

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor's goal was the difference between the two sides as the Merseyside club suffered a defeat over the north London side. Everton have managed just two wins in the last five games played in all competitions, which include a 4-0 away victory over Stevenage in the FA Cup fourth round.

Meanwhile, Swansea come into this game after a 1-1 draw against Stoke City during the midweek league clash. Peter Crouch opened the scoring for the hosts as they went into the break with a one goal lead. However, Chico Flores's second half goal saw the Welsh club avoid a defeat against Stoke.

The visitors have lost only one out of their last five fixtures played in all competitions and Monk would be looking to avoid a defeat against Everton on Sunday. Swansea are 10th in the table with 28 points from 26 games while the Toffees are sixth with 45 points from 256 games.

What Managers Say

Roberto Martinez: "Garry Monk was my first big decision as manager, I built a new squad around him. I knew he was the perfect captain. It's a nice twist, a nice moment to see him in the dugout on Sunday.

Gary Monk: "He [Martinez] was always very studious about the game. The myth was that he had 12 televisions in his front room and each one would have a different game on from a different league. His missus would be sat next to him watching EastEnders on another television. I actually think it's true. He just loves football."
