Fernando Torres

Inter Milan are planning a huge overhaul in order to re-establish themselves in Serie A and according to reports in Italy they have earmarked Fernando Torres and Erik Lamela as their priority summer transfers.

Having already confirmed the signing of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic, Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that they are trying to take advantage of the uncertain situations of both the Chelsea star and Tottenham's record signing to bolster their attack.

At the same time, Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio confirmed in an interview with Corriere De Lo Sport they will sign Torres if the Chelsea striker "has the desire" to play at the San Siro.

While Ausilio ruled out the possibility of acquiring Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko he admits Torres is a real target.

"Yes, he is a player we're following. Torres's career speaks for itself — the titles he has won and the teams in which he has played. It's all about whether he has the right motivation and the desire to be part of a new ambitious project."

With Chelsea having reportedly agreed terms to sign Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, Torres is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer having started just 15 Premier League games and scoring four goals this season.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta Dello Sport reveal that Inter are also planning to bid for the unsettled Lamela.

Spurs made him their club transfer record last summer after paying £30m to Roma following Gareth Bale's departurte to Real Madrid but the 21-year-old forward has failed to make the impact expected. He has started just three Premier League games and spent the second part of the season on the sideline due to injury.

But after scoring 21 goals in 67 games at Roma before his move to North London he maintains a high profile in Italy and Inter are ready to offer him a new chance to prove his worth.
