Overview

Croatia come into their final group game knowing only a win will give them a chance of progressing through to the knockout phase of the 2014 World Cup. After a hard fought loss against Brazil in the opening fixture, the Croatians unleashed their wrath on Cameroon, hammering them 4-0.

Nico Kovac is expected to start with the same XI that demolished Cameroon and will be hoping they can keep the Mexicans at bay. Star striker Mario Mandzukic will hope to continue his goal scoring form after scoroing two goals in their second game after missing the opener against Brazil.

Meanwhile, Mexico who kept World Cup hosts Brazil at bay in their previous encounter, will hope to complete the job and book their place in the last 16. The Mexicans had goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa to thank after he pulled off some blinding saves to keep them in the game.

Miguel Herrera is also expected to play with the same XI that started against Brazil, but will hope they can breach the opposition defense this time around. Mexico knows that a draw will favour them, but the coach feels any team that goes in looking for a draw, is bound to lose the game.

What Managers Say

Nico Kovac (Croatia): "The match against Mexico will be like a final. Mexico are strong, but so are we. The Mexico players are very patriotic, just like us, and they have a great team spirit. They play some aggressive football with a lot of pressing. They are strong going forward, but also have some weaknesses in defense, like Brazil showed us."

Miguel Herrera (Mexico): "The guys know that they can squander the great things that they've been doing in this World Cup if they don't play to win on Monday. Croatia have to win so we're going to go out there and defend, and take advantage of the spaces that they're going to leave open because they're attacking."
