Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis is set to return to Atletico Madrid after the La Liga giants reached a €16m (£11.1m, $17.3m) deal with the Blues to secure his services, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Brazil international left the Vicente Calderon to move to Stamford Bridge just last summer, along with fellow new signing Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois, who returned to West London after three successful seasons on loan in La Liga.

But the 29-year-old defender has been constantly linked with a return to Diego Simeone's side in recent months after losing the battle with Cesar Azpilicueta for the left-back role. He made just nine Premier League starts appearances during the whole campaign.

Jose Mourinho recently admitted he would not block Filipe Luis's departure should Atletico Madrid meet Chelsea's asking price.

"If they want him back then they have to pay and we have to discuss the offer," Mourinho said to Sky Sports.

And now Marca claims that an agreement between the clubs is all but done, with the player committing himself to his former club for three years.

The Spanish publication adds that Atletico Madrid will pay Chelsea €16m, €6m less than they received last summer.

Marca claims that Inter Milan also tried to secure the Brazilian's services, but he made it clear he would only leave Stamford Bridge for his former side.
