French fashion house Chanel has revealed the campaign images for the pre-fall 2012 collection following the brand's opulent display of their Cruise 2013 collection in Versailles.

Starring Russian model and actor, Daria Strokous, the new campaign images closely resemble the brand's Paris-Bombay runway show which took place in December last year.

The campaign is styled by Carine Riotfeld who reportedly channels a vintage visual set in a quaint cafe bar with a black-and-white theme.

Shot by the master designer, Karl Lagelfeld himself, the images picture Strokous in an array of jaw-dropping pieces from Chanel's luxurious pre-fall 2012 collection.

According to Grazia, the louche-but-luxe bar setting is just perfect for Lagerfeld's vision of the about-to-fall Raj-rocking-on. It is a modern take on some Indian style classics - draped silks, tunics over trousers and sufficient strings of pearls and jewels to do the country's longstanding jewellery industry proud.

The famous German designer has not even been to India. "It's much more inspiring not to go to places than to go," Style.com quoted Lagerfeld as stating.

Apart from the new campaign, Chanel's 2012-2013 Cruise collection show displayed at the Chateau de Versailles (Versailles Palace) was a complete success. The event featured a number of celebrities and fashionistas including Tilda Swinton, Alice Dellal and Vanessa Paradis.

The collection showcased Marie Antoinette-inspired designs comprising denim pedal pushers, tweed palazzo pants and dresses with exaggerated hip bustles, accessorised with chokers.

There were also scoop-necked peasant sun dresses, biker-tight black leather trousers and ultra modern swimwear designs.

According to reports in the Telegraph, accessories included wigs - but ultra short candy-coloured bobs, not powdered grandiose numbers - double C beauty spots applied to the cheek, spray-painted floppy sun-hats and white-soled brothel-creeper trainers. Three men joined the female models, one in a raffishly-revered jacket and breeches double denim outfit, another carrying a black-leather padded Chanel watering can.
