Legends of Tomorrow
The CW will air a 30-minute TV special on Legends of Tomorrow on 19 January The CW

The much-awaited Arrow and The Flash spinoff series, Legends of Tomorrow, premieres this week on The CW. But before that the network is airing a 30-minute special giving an in-depth look at the origin of the stories of the heroes and villains.

Titled, DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now, The CW special airs this Tuesday (19 January). Featuring show clips and interviews from Legends, Arrow and The Flash executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, Phil Klemmer and Wendy Mericle, the special feature introduces viewers to immortal madman Vandal Savage, time master Rip Hunter and the motley band of heroes and rogues he assembles as he tries to save the future of humanity: Hawkman, Hawkgirl, White Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Captain Cold and Heat Wave.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now airs on The CW this Tuesday (19 January) at 9.00pm ET and 8.00pm CT. You can click here to watch it online.

Meanwhile, the series – which premieres Thursday (21 January) – won't have too much overlap with either of its parent series, Arrow and The Flash, assures Berlanti. "It's intermittent throughout," he said at the Television Critics Association's winter previews on 17 January (via TV Guide).

"Because they're a band of time-traveling rogues, it's harder for Arrow and Flash to be connected story-wise to it throughout the season. That being said, if you know the histories of Arrow and Flash, it should be extra fun in its own way as we delve deeper and deeper into the characters' lives."
