Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 Gets Flipboard via APK Google Play Store

Some applications may not be compatible with certain devices. The incompatibility could be because of several reasons such as hardware mismatch or the app might be blocked from installation on certain devices. Similarly, Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 users cannot install the Flipboard app from the Google Play Store. Asus users can now get the Flipboard app on their Pad Infinity TF700, thanks to the efforts of XDA senior member Pretoriano80 for providing the latest APK on the official thread at the XDA Developers' forum. An APK file is the file format used to distribute and install application software onto Google's Android operating system.

According to a post on the forum, users can simply download the file and sideload it using a file manager. Users need not root the device.

"Despite not being available in the Play Store, the application works perfectly well, and users are having no issues," claims the post on XDA Developers' forum. But the only issue relates to the app being stuck in portrait mode by default.

Popular newsreader app, the Flipboard, was made available to Android users in June. The app that has already been a hit on the iOS platform was picked as App of the Year in 2012 by Apple. Interestingly, the app converts web content into a magazine-like format.

With the arrival of Flipboard on Android, the company also announced the addition of two new services - Google+ and YouTube. It allows users to connect their Google+ account to Flipboard and also to view activities in Circles in a magazine format. When using YouTube, users can experience video browsing much like reading a magazine. The app has been made available with fully translated interface in five new editions - Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Korea, in addition to the present localisations for France, China, Japan, the US and the UK.
