Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, of "bunga bunga" sex party fame, has joined Instagram. Berlusconi, who was convicted of tax fraud and was expelled from the Senate, has used the photo-sharing site to promote his Forza Italia party ahead of elections on 31 May.

The once much beloved prime minister was acquitted of offering money in exchange for sex to an underage girl at his "bunga bunga" party, but still faces charges for allegedly paying off a witness and another political corruption charge in Naples, Foreign Policy reported.

Nowadays, he and his political party have fallen drastically out of favour. According to FP, fewer than 12% of voters say they support Forza Italia.

In the week that Berlusconi has been on Instagram, he has used the social media site to promote his political party and share snaps of his life with 29-year-old girlfriend Francesca Pascale. As Foreign Policy noted, his Instagram feed "is the most Berlusconi thing ever".

Berlusconi shows his Italian pride with his... pasta?

According to the latest polls by CISE, Berlusconi's Forza Italia trails behind Partido Democratico, Movimento 5 Stelle and Lega Nord. Forza Italia nabbed 12.22% of votes in the poll, compared to 36.45% for Partido Democratico.
